Welcome to La Carpeta Monetaria

Welcome to my new blog, La Carpeta Monetaria.
My aims are three:
- Clarify my own thinking about global monetary policy by “conversing with” (linking to and commenting on the content of) other bloggers and online commentators on global monetary policy.
- In doing so, educate the public. I’ll have in mind especially my clients in and out of Mexico, of whom a growing number are individual investors.
- Bring more Latin American voices into “the global conversation” on monetary policy.
I’ll start out with these tacks:
- Follow the must-read blogs (Paul Krugman, Martin Wolf, Mark Thoma…).
- Try to discover and start to follow less famous folks, especially Latin American and Spanish bloggers and other online commentators on monetary policy. I’ll need help from my readers to find these sources.
- Use mostly English. After all, the idea is to insert Latin America into the global conversation. I may make exceptions when “conversing” with bloggers who write in Spanish.
You may be wondering about the blog’s name. “Carpeta” here refers to a 3-ring binder (“carpeta de argolla” in Mexican Spanish). Carpeta Monetaria is one product in the new “Carpeta” line of TransEconomics products. This one is free. “Carpeta” products aid in portfolio allocation decisions, so I’ll try to discuss global monetary policy with global assest prices in mind. But I won’t always make the connection explicit.
Writers need (thrive on) audiences, so thanks for reading! And please comment. Without comments, a blog is just a column. I want to converse with you.
