TransEconomics is a fast-growing independent asset management firm (asesora patrimonial independiente) that designs and manages investment portfolios for institutional investors and high net worth families who seek broad diversification across countries and asset classes via exchange traded funds, sovereign debt securities, private equity, and venture capital. We’re a small (five-person) passionate, closely collaborative team based in Querétaro, Mexico. Our president and head of asset allocation is the international macroeconomist Genevieve Signoret. We seek a well-rounded, brilliant student of economics, mathematics, physics, actuarial science, accounting, finance, quantitative political science, or engineering, with broad intellectual interests and a strong worth ethic, eager to start a career in asset management.

This is a part-time, on-site internship in Querétaro for someone who has successfully completed at least three years toward a university degree in a related field. You'll set your own 20-hour-a-week schedule around your class schedule. Once hired, you'll report to an Associate Advisor, learning to manage our global macroeconomic and market database; model and crunch numbers; help produce global macro and market research reports for clients; help manage our research systems; contribute to marketing by helping us share our research and prepare presentations; help advisors devise and update client financial plans and portfolio strategies; help advisors manage portfolios; provide administrative support to advisors.

We realize that you may not have experience; we’ll train you. You will sign, at first, a contract for a 6-week trial period—your gateway to a long-term career at TransEconomics.

We select for character above all, hiring people able to show us they are reputable (known for lawful and ethically unimpeachable conduct); professional (reliable, punctual, and well organize); motivating (a pleasure to work and interact with); sophisticated (perpetually well informed, insatiably curious); passionate (excited about work, hard driven, joyful); open (comfortable working with international colleagues and clients); hard wroking (high-energy, deadline driven, strong under pressure); creative (a font of ideas for solving problems and raising productivity; autonomous (self-directed); and demanding (set high standards for themselves and our company).

You should apply for this job if you meet those standards and have the following skills and talents: can stay cool and perform well under pressure; can manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously; great at math; superb written Spanish; strong spoken Spanish; strong English; high potential to improve your English (motivated and able to master foreign languages). Computer coding, while not required, will help.

You'll need at least three years of college with a high GPA in economics, mathematics, physics, actuarial science, accounting, finance, political science, law, or engineering.

We offer an ethical, collaborative, passionate work environment; intense, permanent training and mentoring; a work schedule set each semester around your class schedule; a convenient location (near Plaza del Parque and Plaza Boulevares); a competitive stipend, with raises to reward progress.
